BUSINESS PROFILE BISIMI was started in the year 2002 on July 12 th as a small restaurant on Sydney Road with the concept of fast food. Its cuisine combines South Indian, Malaysian and Singaporean dishes and drives the flavours through its Authentic and Tantalizing fusion of its menu. The founder of this restaurant are two brothers, who after completing their masters in IT and Business Administration made efforts to build the career of this restaurant. The restaurant started growing from the first stage as a famous place among the students crowd. It increased it sales day by day as the menu grew from 15 dishes to about 60 dishes different and unique of its own origin. The famous roti paratta (Flaky bread) of the Malaysian cuisine was first introduced fresh in the market by Bismi. The creativity of the menu was from the knowledge of the home country and never attempted to copy from different source. As days past with the growing crowd a mission was set up. The concept of Bismi is cheap price and high turn over. This works quite well and every day our staff serves on average of 500 customers. Remembering and respecting the ideas of its customers Bismi decided for a second outlet in the city. For this venture Bismi sole trader was formed into a company named as Bismi Group Of Companies Pty Ltd in the year 2003 in the month of July. Bismi Restaurant and Goldan Fork was set as trading names and it continued to grow. The city outlet was in the midst of a great floating crowd that got diverted to the basement of the Mercure Hotel on Little Bourke Street. The business grew very fast and was the cheapest of its price and the best of the quality food in the city. This fetched the appreciation of many papers and magazines of the town. The specialty of Bismi and its chain restaurants is the small kitchen in the shop front that scenes the art of making the roti bread. The bread is made fresh and cooked in the front of the customers who enjoy their waiting time taking the pictures and imitating the chef. The current menu of the Bismi starts with the mouth watering Starters changing into main course with roti's, dosai's, Biryani – lightly spiced and flavoured basmati rice, fried rice, curries, masala's, fries, Indian styled drinks and desserts. All outlets have the same menu but slightly modified to suit the needs of local customers. The restaurant in the Sydney Road was flooded with crowd and so a decision of extending its size was made. There by the total capacity of the restaurant increased to 110 sittings. In the line of developing the business a new outlet is opening up on Fitzroy Street , St.Kilda closely. Due to unavoidable circumstances the city outlet was closed. The city outlet on Little Bourke Street was closed as the entire food court is taken over by the Mercure Hotel itself. Thus a search for another location was made and the Galleria food court was targeted. On accommodating the Galleria food court the entire menu is modified to suit the fast moving crowd. Some dishes include those achieved through research at our kitchen by experienced chefs. We are undertaking an internal research on fusion of food and introducing new dishes into the market. One of our well known fusion food is the Pizza Dosai. It is a fusion between the Italian food – Pizza and the South Indian dish the Dosai. A review of this dish was published in the AGE newspaper in November last year. A copy is attached. The fusion food includes the stuffed rolls and the Wraps to be into the market shortly. In order to help its customers a new plan of opening a Mini Market different from the existing ones is planned and to be implemented in the middle of this year. As the plan continues here in Melbourne a market survey was carried out in New York City for setting up a Restaurant. Focusing at the positive results of the survey a plan is framed to start a restaurant. The plan is in its second stage after starting up a company in New York . The upcoming projects will be a great challenge to the management and the team of Bismi but all are quite confident and with ultimate hope |
